EPFO subscribers can now download their Universal Account Number (UAN) through Digilocker using their Aadhaar number. EPFO recently tweeted saying, “PPOs and UAN cards is now available on Digilocker.” Note that for salaried employees,the UAN is an important document which helps them keep track of their various Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) accounts.
For pensioners, the Pension Payment Order (PPO) number is an important document. PPO number is a unique 12-digit number that helps pensioner receive their pension. Further, while submitting life certificate, it is important to mention this PPO number.
What is DigiLocker?
DigiLocker is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) under Digital India programme. It aims at ‘Digital Empowerment’ of the citizen by providing access to authentic digital documents to citizen’s digital document wallet. The issued documents in DigiLocker system are deemed to be at par with original physical documents as per Rule 9A of the Information Technology (Preservation and Retention of Information by Intermediaries providing Digital Locker facilities) Rules, 2016 notified on February 8, 2017, vide G.S.R. 711(E).
According to the DigiLocker website, your DigiLocker account will show you the digital documents or certificates issued by
various departments of the government. If you are accessing your DigiLocker account for the first time, you will be required to make sign up and make an account on their website. In order to sign up for a DigiLocker account, you only require your mobile number or Aadhaar number.
The documents available in the DigiLocker account can be accessed via DigiLocker app. Keep in mind that to access your UAN or PPO number from the DigiLocker, your Aadhaar number will be mandatorily required.

How to sign up on DigiLocker website?
Step 1: Visit https://digilocker.gov.in/
Step 2: Click on Sign-up option
Step 3: A new webpage will open on your screen where you will be required to enter your mobile number/Aadhaar number.
Step 4: A one-time password (OTP) will be sent on your mobile number. This OTP received will be valid for only 10 minutes.
If you have entered your Aadhaar number, ensure that your mobile number is linked with Aadhaar to receive the OTP.
Step 5: Enter the OTP in the designated area and click on continue.
Step 6: Enter the details as requested: Name, Date of birth, Gender and Email ID. Your name, date of birth and gender should be as per Aadhaar.
Step 7: Click on Submit. If you have signed up using your mobile number, then you will be asked to enter your Aadhaar number.
Step 8: You will be required to set a 6-digit security PIN. This PIN will work as a password and will be required for every login.
